It's the final rest day at the Tata Steel event. Ove the past couple of rounds the spectators have been treated to some wild play. Watching on the tournament viewer I have to wonder if the large number of "blunders" is real or the results of the computer strength improving.

In any event, Levon Aronian has taken a full point lead on the rest of the field, with a score of 7.5/10. Vassily Ivanchuk has also won his last two games and now has sole possession of 2nd with 6.5. Tied for third are Magnus Carlsen and Teimour Radjabov, both with 6. Aronian has narrowed the gap to Carlsen, on the "Live" Rating Chart to 7.3 points.

Today is the 3rd round of the Gibralter Chess Festival, and the 1st day of 2600+ players meeting. Among the leaders are Shak Mamedyarov, Michael Adams, Zoltan Almasi, Le Quang Liam, Judit Polgar, Viktor Laznicka, Sergei Movsesian, and Krishnan Sasikiran. Perhaps the marque match-up is on board 5 where David Howell is white against Judit.
